Tom Aposporos is a licensed real estate broker in both Florida and New York. He began his real estate career in Poughkeepsie,
New York in 1972 and received his Florida license in 1998. He is currently a broker associate with J Wood Realty in Sarasota,
Florida and manager of Aposporos & Son Realty, LLC, a real estate management company representing rental properties on Anna
Maria Island in Florida. A native of New York State, he continues doing business there as a sole proprietor broker.
Tom enjoys a dynamic life in business, public service and the arts. He was elected the youngest Mayor in the history of
Poughkeepsie, New York and served an unprecedented four consecutive terms. He subsequently directed publicly-traded banking
companies for more than a decade and during a significant part of that time was Chairman of the Board of Progressive Bank,
Inc., a bank holding company which enjoyed a dramatic recovery and rise in shareholder value during his tenure.
Tom has also been involved in public life in Florida, chairing Anna Maria's Charter Review Commission twice and serving as
a City Commissioner.
He has also accepted short term work assignments for organizations. For example, on two separate occasions over a
twenty year period, he has served Poughkeepsie, New York as its Acting Development Director, responsible for planning,
zoning and development functions and he is currently serving as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Longboat Key,
Lido Key, St. Armands Key Chamber of Commerce in Florida.
Tom has extensive credits as a stage actor, has written and directed for the stage and he is also experienced as a voice talent, television and film actor. He is a founder of
Theatre Odyssey, a not-for-profit company which, among other theater projects, solicits and produces new works by emerging playwrights.
